Indicates the home has or is still settling. More evidence and severity will be seen inside.
Melting grommet and dark soot.
Indicates likely back drafting of hot toxic water heater flue gas. Carbon monoxide meant to be exhausted outside is suspected of back drafting into the home.
Moisture concern
Indicates past or present moisture damage. Will expect indications in the attic and roof if the issue is current. One problem often tips off others.
Step cracking is a significant foundation issue.
Indication of a potentially unstable foundation allowing the rest of the home to be impacted as well as water entry into the basement.
Cap shingles failing.
Indicates a roofer may have used a poor grade shingle on the cap. Note the wear is significantly different from the rest of the roof shingles.
Nail pop.
Indicates improper installation or environmental circumstances. This may lead to moisture and other unwanted material beneath the shingles.
Gas meter clearance issue
Without proper clearance around the meter, the gas company will have some uncomfortable questions for the next owner
